THE life of Island-born Wilf Pine was celebrated at his recent funeral service in New Milton.

One of the most emotional moments came when Elkie Brooks sang her hit song, Don't Cry Out Loud, without the aid of a microphone.

Meridian TV presenter Fred Dinenage delivered a very touching eulogy. He and Wilf had been friends for many years.

Joining Wilf's widow, Ros, and her family, were people from many different walks of life.

Several Island family members and friends were in the large congregation.

Among the other mourners were top television actor Billy Murray, from The Bill and EastEnders, Terry Stone, the movie actor and producer, David Arden, the son of the late Don Arden, whom Wilf had worked for in the music business, Dave Courtney, Joe Pyle Junior and former IW Radio presenter Andy Shier, now with Wave 105.

Local showbiz journalist and broadcaster John Hannam was also present.

John first introduced Elkie Brooks to Wilf in 2008. This friendship led to Wilf obtaining her a record deal and being the executive producer on her album Powerless
