AN ISLAND darts player has been making moves in the darts world at the Grand Slam of Darts.

Despite losing two out of three games at the group stage of the tournament and heading home, 26 year old Keegan Brown played three fantastic games.

He said: “The Grand Slam is so great because it merges two different organisations of darts. It’s really a win-win for all involved because you play against a variety of players.

“Although I lost two games, my averages were in the hundreds and, in my third game, me and my competitor had ten 180s between us.

“It is unfortunate and I’m sad to come home, but I played really well and if I keep that form up, I’m in good stead for the next competition.”

Keegan is heading to the Players’ Championship in Minehead next week and then to the World Championships in London at the end of the year.

Keegan, of Newport, said he had been playing darts for as long as he could remember.

“I just always, always wanted to play.”
