THE IW Road Runners have been busy with entries to the Poppy Half, the Remembrance 10k and the Scenic Seven.

Steve Hickman continued his recent spell of shorter races by taking on the Poppy Half at Bexhill-on-Sea. The race started at the iconic De La Warr Pavillion, offered a 5k, 10k and half marathon and raised money for the RBL.

Steve entered the half with his son, Ricky, and finished 1.55.30 — 11th in what Steve called the ‘old blokes’ category.

Although his son beat him, he said: “I don’t mind at all, I really enjoyed it.”

Also supporting the Poppy Appeal, Sarah Morris lined up to take on the Scenic Seven in Suffolk.

The course starts in Stowmarket before looping round Harleston. Sarah ran the seven miles in 1.09.43.

Road runner stalwart Lyn Snow headed to Fort Nelson for the Remembrance 10k.

“It was quite tough” said Lyn. “There were a few hills to contend with and I missed the other road runners.”

Lyn finished the 10k in 1.19.43.
