EAST COWES VICS 2, ROMSEY TOWN 3

AFTER some disastrous results recently, East Cowes faced Romsey Town with a reshuffled pack, due to injuries and absences.

Vics started well, with Elias Ahmed thwarted. But Ahmed only had to wait until the seventh minute to score the opener — finishing off a great move between Jordi Chapman and skipper Jimmi Burton.

Vics’ young keeper Karl Steinbon-Busse saved magnificently to deny a powerful strike on 21 minutes.

However, two minutes later, Romsey were level with a powerful header.

On 61 minutes, Vics were in control, with several chances gone begging — Ahmed coming closest when his powerful shot crashed back off the post and rebounded straight to the keeper.

Then Vics defender Ollie West cleared superbly off the line.

But Romsey took the lead on 83 minutes with a hotly-disputed goal — substitute Kyle Drew fouled in the build up, with the referee waving Vics appeals away.

With a minute left on the clock, a great ball into the Romsey box found Drew, who struck a delightful half-volley home to level.

But Vics hearts were broken by Romsey deep into injury time with their winner.

East Cowes Vics: Steinbon-Busse, Young, Newbold, Pzespolewski, Gregory, West , Murray, Chapman, Ahmed, Burton, Hayward. Subs: Barsdell, Drew, Barratt, Sibbick.
