EPP maintained their superb 100 per cent win record in Division 1 of the Leslies Motors Isle of Wight Indoor League following their two-wicket victory against previously undefeated Brading on Sunday.

Batting first, Brading scored 122-4, with Alan Johns (26 not out) top scoring, but it was not enough to overcome the young EPP side, who made 128-4 in reply — Ben Attrill (26 not out) helping to cement their place at the top.

Shanklin & Godshill 1, with 134-4, gained a second win this season by beating Prison Officers (128 all out), with Simon Wratten (44) their top scorer.

But Steve Egerton-Read (35 not out) and Nathan Moore (26) saw Shanklin & Godshill home.

The other game saw Ryde (124-5) beat Northwood (80-5).

Ryde’s Mark Oatley continued his consistent form with the bat, hitting 30, and, although Liam Roberts made 24 in reply, Stuart Robertson’s tight bowling (3-23) gave Ryde the points.

Two games took place in Division 2, which featured the closest finish of the evening as Island Bakeries narrowly defeated Cowes by three runs in a high scoring match.

The Bakers thought they had enough runs on the board following not out scores from Matt Webb (34), Tom Wells (29) and Kieron Annis (28), which steered them to 153-3.

However, Cowes fought back, thanks to Josh Rice (49), Jason Heap (35 not out) and Ciaran Saltzer (33), with Cowes (150-5) falling short on the last ball.

Newport hit the highest score of the evening (191-3) to beat the IW Disability Team, with 28 not out scores from Mike Watson and Paul Attrill, supported by Guy Wells (30), setting a tough target.

The Disability Team batted well, but not out scores from Matt Rice (26) and Jayden Franklyn (27), were not enough as they closed on 100-3.
