SANDOWN and Shanklin will be looking to keep their superb league campaign momentum rolling along with victory away at mid-table Alresford in the Hampshire Premier tomorrow.

The Hurricanes, who, reversed their fixture with Alresford, will travel with a revised side following the away win at bottom club Gosport and Fareham II last weekend.

This week, stand-in captain Zak Chiverton is unavailable, along with full-back Ben Sanderson and scrum-half Jacob Jordan.

However, the team are boosted by the return of Ben Shannon, Damian Seder and Sam Tyson into the starting line-up.

There is also a race for fitness for fly-half Cameron Mitchell and influential first team skipper Sam Flux, both of whom are battling injuries from previous weeks.

"It is important for us to maintain our momentum and finish the year strong, and this will be a stern test," said Flux.

"Last time we played Alresford away we narrowly lost due to a penalty in the dying moments.

"There is no way we want a repeat of that again.

"It is also great to welcome back some fresh legs into the line up. We have done our best to rotate and keep people fresh, where possible, be that through selection choices, or through an enforced time on the sideline.

"Hopefully, this will bear fruit in the coming weeks, as we see lads coming in fresh and ready to do battle again before the festive break and then ready for the tough schedule in the new year."

Meanwhile, Isle of Wight's first team are on the road to Overton for a Hampshire 1 fixture tomorrow.

The club's director of rugby, Dave Metcalfe, said: 'We're looking forward to this game. We got over a very bad start against Farnborough last weekend to deliver a strong second half performance.

"If we can take up this week where we left off, it gives us a chance to improve our away form and grab a win heading into our game against league leaders Alton the following week.

"Travelling to Overton is always a challenge up front, but I think our forwards will relish that prospect."

Isle of Wight will be missing James Webster and James Reed, who were in the Farnborough starting line-up last Saturday, but will otherwise select from a full deck for this game.

Isle of Wight's second team have arranged a friendly against fellow Islanders Sandown and Shanklin II, whose Hampshire 4 fixture away at Romsey II was postponed.

The match kicks off at 2pm at Wootton Rec tomorrow.

Club secretary, Kieran Leahy, said: 'It's been a fantastic season for the seconds so far, with a 100 per cent record and a healthy lead at the top of Hampshire 3.

"Playing and training numbers are exceptional, so much so that fielding a third team is a live possibility in the new year.

"With no league game until January 12, we're glad of Saturday's fixture and hope that two other friendlies either side of Christmas go ahead, so that we're match ready when the competitive fixtures start again."

Manager Dean Jennings is likely to experiment and make several changes from their win over Farnborough II, with some players unavailable, but others returning after a spell on the sidelines.

In Hampshire 1, Ventnor have a tough fixture at high-flying Ellingham and Ringwood, hoping to improve their away form.
