MORCHEEBA will close this year's Rhythmtree Festival which will also feature Liverpool rockers Space.

The event, now in its ninth year, is taking place at Three Gates Farm in Calbourne over the weekend of July 14, 15 and 16.

Organisers said: “We’re very excited to be able to present trip-hop legends Morcheeba as our closing Sunday night headliners.

"Fronted by the captivating smokey soul vocals of Skye Edwards and multi-instrumentalist Ross Godfrey the band, formed in 1995, have sold over 10 million copies of their eight albums and continue to tour the world.

“Friday night is always a party night at Rhythmtree and this year we’ve pulled out all the stops.

"As well as a live line up that features Liverpool rockers Space — whose hit singles include “The Female of the Species”and “Neighbourhood” — festival favourites, The Correspondents, and the ska and rocksteady sounds of India’s The Ska Vengers, we have a very special six hour take-over of our lovely Woods by the team that produce Glastonbury’s extraordinary late night Shangri-La areas and Caravanserai, The Polka Tent and Club Dada at Bestival.

“Filling Jill’s Woods from 8pm til the early hours with their world renown mix of live bands, cabaret, burlesque and the best dance DJ’s out there we’re thrilled to welcome the Continental Drifts team to Rhythmtree for the first time.”

Programmer Pete Holden added: “We’re an Island event produced by Islanders for the Island and more people than ever before discovered that we really are a weekend for everyone whatever your musical tastes and whether you are young, getting on a bit or somewhere in between.

“Rhythmtree has a very special, safe, easy going and relaxed atmosphere with plenty of space for everyone and whether you prefer to soak up the sun in front of main stage, take the shade of the glades in Jill’s Woods or settle on a sofa in the Didg Cafe there’s always a world of musical treats and discoveries waiting for you.”
