WE’RE still in the height of summer and things are getting very retro this weekend with classic camper vans, 80s anthems, and 1940s vintage days, so be sure to get outside and make the most of it.
Jack Up The 80s is back for another year, this time at its new home in Smallbrook Stadium near Ryde. Today’s (Saturday’s) line-up includes From the Jam, Right Said Fred, and chart-topper Jason Donovan while tomorrow (Sunday) is your chance chance to catch Bootleg Blondie, S Club, and Alexander O’Neal.
The V-Dub festival also returns this weekend, featuring live music and thousands of classic Volkswagens. At 12pm today (Saturday) around 500 classic campers will head out from the festival site at Fairlee, through Newport, and out towards Freshwater.
The weather has been a little unkind to the Ventnor Fringe this year but with the last two days, today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) there’s still lots happening and, with a perfect weather forecast, what better way to wile away the weekend than taking in some music, comedy, or art?
Carnival season continues today (Saturday) with the Freshwater parade at 4pm and the Ventnor illuminated carnival from 9pm.
Over at the Calbourne Mill this weekend is your chance to travel back to the 1940s. There will be re-enactors, vintage vehicles, stalls, and steam engines both today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) at this family friendly event.
At Sandown Airport today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) is the Isle of Wight Jaguar Show. Though there won’t be any big cats, you can expect a lot of big cars at this all-day enthusiast extravaganza.
If you fancy a family day by the beach tomorrow (Sunday), the Sandown Bay Regatta has what you need. From 10.30am there will be beach sports, a magic show, and air sea rescue display, all culminating with fireworks at 9.30pm.
