A RYDE business was broken into and ransacked overnight.

The owners of Captain Stan's fish shop arrived this morning (Wednesday) to find their door broken, freezers left open, product all over the floor and charity money stolen.

Ruth Curtis, from Captain Stan's, said: "We rely on the summer to get through the winter and we won't be able to open this weekend.

"First weekend of the summer holidays and we haven't even got a door anymore. It's heart-breaking and soul destroying to be honest."

She said that a neighbour's CCTV footage showed one man breaking into the building with a crowbar at around 6.30am this morning.

On the business's Twitter site, they have posted: "They stole the money we were collecting from book sales for the hospice.

"Out fishing. Haven't really got the heart to carry on."
