EIGHT days of action-packed fun and entertainment ended with the 108th Yarmouth Carnival parade around the town on Saturday.

The event was hailed an 'incredible success' by carnival committee chairman, Chris Waddington, with huge numbers, young and old, taking part in a packed programme of activities throughout the week.

The fun continued right up until the parade itself with this year's theme being anniversaries and several of the floats commemorated the RAF and First World War.

Chris said: "We had amazing support from everybody and the whole week was an incredible success.

"This is such a traditional event with grandparents who took part in it many years ago now seeing their children and grandchildren participating throughout the week.

"The parade was brilliant with lots of families taking part and making their floats together, it is a real community event."

The parade was led off by the Vectis Corps of Drums and included the Taylor, Feldman and McInnes families of Ommaney Road in their Mr Men Float celebrating their 37th anniversary of taking part in the event.

Other floats included the Centenary of RAF with Poppy, Harry and Max Heming and the 250th Anniversary of Captain James Cook's Voyage with the Rodwell family.

Jess Brown and Poppy Green led the Hill Farm Stables entry War Horse.

The weather held firm throughout the week as people enjoyed the treasure hunt, dog and pet show, brew with the Yarmouth RNLI crew, fishing competition, harbour sports, historical talk by Kevin Shaw, sandcastle competition, teddy bears' picnic and RNLI demonstration.
