THE front man of one of the eighties' most critically acclaimed bands is heading for Quay Arts tonight...and it will be a special moment for centre manager Paul Armfield.

Martin Stephenson was part of The Daintees, the well-loved band from the north east, who were a strong influence on the Island's own, cherished band Bobby I Can Fly.

Armfield told the County Press it will be great to have Stephenson performing at the Newport venue on the Isle of Wight tonight.

"The Daintees were one of the bands we in Bobby I Can Fly really respected," Armfield said.

The Daintees were best known for their debut album Boat To Bolivia and Stephenson has gone on to become a busy solo artiste in his own right.

Tickets are still available for tonight's gig, which starts at 7.30pm.
