A SHANKLIN man told Isle of Wight magistrates he would lose his job after admitting driving with a controlled drug above the specified limit in his system.

Tyrone Clarkson, 23, of High Street, admitted driving a Toyota Yaris in St George's Road, Shanklin, on June 14 this year, with Delta-9 THC in his system.

The court was told there had been nothing wrong with Clarkson's driving, but when he was stopped, they asked for a blood sample.

Clarkson said he did not smoke cannabis during the week but said it built up in his body and he had no excuses.

He said: "It is my fault and I fully accept that."

He was fined £120 and told to pay a £50 surcharge and costs of £50.

He was also barred from driving for 12 months.
