POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of dangerous driving following a pursuit which took place in Shanklin last night (Saturday)

Officers say that at 8.36pm on September 29, officers were en route to an unrelated incident when a white Peugeot van failed to pull over on A3020 at Godshill and began driving erratically. The vehicle failed to stop for officers, who initiated a pursuit.

The Peugeot van was then in collision with a parked Ford Focus on Garfield Road, Shanklin. No contact was made with or by the police vehicle. The driver left the vehicle and was detained shortly after.

A 47-year-old man from Shanklin was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, failing to stop and having no third party insurance. He remains in custody at this time.
