NEWPORT Rowing Club joined forces with staff at Asda to raise funds for charity when they took part in a 24-hour row-a-thon at the store.

The event took place over Saturday and Sunday and raised £916 for equipment for the club and for Tickled Pink - Asda's breast cancer charity.

Rowers began on Saturday at noon and finished at noon on Sunday.

Throughout the 24 hours, club members and colleagues at Asda took it in turns to row for 10mins at a time. It was a long night but everyone was delighted to complete the fundraiser.

The Asda customers were very generous and staff and the club would like to thank everyone that donated cash. Each organisation will get £458.
