A POPULAR charity event has been given a new lease of life with a video game theme and jam-packed entertainment village - but organisers say it may be the last if participants don’t raise sponsorship.

Wessex Cancer Trust’s Rainbow Run, which takes place on Sunday, June 25, at the IW County Showground, Northwood, raises funds for Islanders affected by cancer.

But if Wessex Cancer Trust is to keep hosting the event, they say all runners need to raise a minimum sponsorship of £50.

Laura Haytack, Wessex Cancer Trust's regional fundraising manager, said: “Rainbow Run is one of our most popular events on the Island every year and we don’t want it to be our last.

"The ticket price covers the cost of putting the event on, so without sponsorship we can’t raise what we need for Islanders affected by cancer.

“We’re thrilled to be giving Rainbow Run a shake up with a video game theme and a giant entertainment village, packed with a full day of fun for all our incredible supporters.

"After all, we wouldn’t be able to offer the support we do without everyone taking part and raising sponsorship.”

There are new obstacles on the 3km course, including an optional slip ‘n’ slide.

Attendees can enjoy live music from Ear Candy and Platform One band, The Bandits. Award-winning entertainer, AJ, will also be performing.

Event sponsor WightFibre will be on site with its WightFibre bus.

An entire entertainment village means more fun for runners and spectators, packed with activities and games, from free facepainting to personalised caricatures.

Tickets are now on sale.
