Isle of Wight ferry operator, Wightlink, is apologising for delays between Fishbourne and Portsmouth this morning (Tuesday).

Earlier this morning, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service crews, from Southsea and Cosham, were called to deal with an incident involving a tanker carrying 40,000 litres of kerosene.

The fire was quickly put out and firefighters are monitoring the situation.

Some passengers, on social media, say sailings have been delayed by two hours, while the firm says there is a wait of up to 120 minutes.

A spokesperson has told the County Press the delays were caused by the incident on the road approaching Portsmouth car ferry terminal.

Wightlink's other routes are running to schedule.

Passengers are asked to check in as normal, while the firm 'works to reduce delays.'
