NATIONAL industrial strike action by ASLEF — now into its second year — has halted all Island Line services today (Tuesday) .

And overtime bans will affect travel for customers who use the South Western Railway (SWR) network, tomorrow (Wednesday) through until Tuesday, February 6.

Today's strike, in which all Island Line services have ceased, follows several others held since January 3 last year.

Those intending to travel by rail from Portsmouth and Southampton stations are being told they (as well as the vast majority of the network) will not be served, with only an extremely limited service operating on a small number of lines.

Customers are advised to only travel if absolutely necessary and should check their entire journey before travelling, as other operators will also be affected, say SWR.

SWR will be running journey planners during the period of industrial action.

From tomorrow, services will largely run to normal timetables. However, short notice alterations and cancellations are possible.
