Isle of Wight St Mary's Hospital parking could spread into fields

Further to Alison Smith's letter regarding parking at St Mary's Hospital, about ten years ago I led a campaign to persuade St Mary's to utilise one of the four fields just to the north of the hospital site and already owned by the hospital authority.

Despite initial rebuttals the additional staff parking area soon emerged, occupying just half of the first field.

Visible on Google Earth are two and a half more fields, also owned by the hospital, so there is plenty of room for supplementary parking space, and access to this area already exists.

Repurposing this area could be funded from car parking charges, and would remove much of the stress and wasted time currently endured by patients, visitors and staff alike.
