An Isle of Wight ferry route will face a month of disruption after an "underwater object" damaged a vehicle ferry.

Wightlink has announced it will be operating a revised timetable for up to four weeks following damage to one of the propellers on the St Faith ferry.

Starting Monday, March 11, a revised timetable will affect the Fishbourne to Portsmouth route.

The propeller was damaged by an "underwater object" and repairs will be carried out as quickly as possible, the cross-Solent travel provider has said.

Wightlink is contacting all customers affected by these changes and their booking will be moved to alternative sailings as close as possible to the original scheduled departures.

A spokesperson said: "Customers can then amend the time and date online if they wish or, if they prefer, may cancel their booking for a full refund."

The damage happened almost exactly a year after a similar incident saw St Faith side-lined.

On February 20, 2023, the vehicle ferry made contact with the berth at Fishbourne, causing damage to the ship's prow.

All of St Faith's sailings were cancelled for two days while repairs were carried out.
