Isle of Wight coastal erosion and landslips in aerial pictures

Pictures, taken from a helicopter, show erosion on the cliffs at Blackgang, below Blackgang Chine.

On the beaches below, images appear to show piles of earth which have fallen from the cliffs.

Islander Amy Ringer took the images last week, while Kev Newton took a similar shot of Blackgang using his drone.

Further along the coast, the devastation of the Bonchurch landslip, in December, can be seen.

As previously reported, the road above, Leeson Road, is yet to reopen.

Other images show the Luccombe end of Shanklin.

The two blocks of white flats visible in the picture are The Reach, on Luccombe Road.

The Island has seen a number of landslips in recent months. 

The County Press has put together a timeline of the recent landslides.

Just last week, 40ft deep cracks appeared in a cliff top path and a beach had to be shut for safety reasons.

Before this, there were landslips in St Lawrence and, as mentioned, a major landslide in Bonchurch.
