An Isle of Wight nightclub is to transform for an evening of entertainment to "celebrate life, people we've lost and people who are fighting against cancer".

Islanders are invited to see Fever and Boutique, Newport like "you've never seen it before" next month (April).

Raising money for two charities — Macmillan Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Now — the nightclub is hosting a Rave Against Cancer.

Organised by Alex Simpson who runs monthly D&B night, Pressure, the event will see an all-female DJ line-up, accompanied by some drag acts.

Alex will also be performing as DJ Shufflah and other acts include Our Girl G and Shan and Gail.

Alex told the County Press: "Sadly I've lost some beloved family members to cancer.

"Unfortunately it comes into everyone's life at some point.

"It's a unifying cause and is something that can bring us all together.

"Hopefully everyone can come along and raise some money for some worthwhile charities."

As 100 per cent of proceeds are split between the two charities, Alex said it is optional how much party-goers pay.

Donations range from £5 to £20, plus a booking fee, and can be secured in advance or on the night.

Luke Bontoft, general manager at Fever, said: "We've been doing these nights for a few years now.

"If we have these nights and we're getting such a good turn out, why not put them to good use and why not create the income that go towards charities.

"Come along to a fantastic night out that's going to make a difference as well."

With SEN nights already proving successful at Fever, Luke said he is looking to turn the nightclub into a 'community asset'.
