January 16, 2001 10:27: A CHRISTMAS concert at St Georges Church, Beckenham, by Beckenham Chorale has raised £1,200 for charity.
A packed audience heard the chorale sing a Christmas programme in aid of the Welcare charity, which works with single parents throughout the borough. A cheque was presented by conductor, John Nightingale, to Welcare chairman, the Rev Simon Burton-Jones, at a ceremony at Worsley Bridge School.
The chorale is rehearsing at the school in preparation for a concert on May 5.
