EQUIPMENT worth £4,000 was stolen from an Isle of Wight Council storage unit.
The items, kept in a storage area in Carisbrooke, belonged to the council's Rights of Way Service which looks after more than 500 miles of  public footpaths, bridleways and byways across the Island.
Four heavy duty petrol strimmers were taken, along with a welder.
