ISLAND Roads has announced plans to upgrade Avenue Road in Freshwater next month.
The proposal, which will be co-coordinated alongside the Isle of Wight Council and Freshwater Parish Council, will look to improve the entire section of the road as well as a section of the High Street.
Works to reconstruct and resurface the road's foundations are due to start on September 11, with the project lasting around12 weeks.
An information session takes place today (Tuesday) at the Memorial Hall in Freshwater.
Island Roads construction manager, Keith Gourlay, said the works would be beneficial in the long run.
He said: “This major scheme takes into account the needs of pedestrians and road users and will transform this busy part of Freshwater.
“The work is extensive and we hope that residents will take the opportunity to come along and find out more about the work involved and also the benefits it will bring.”
The foot way will also be resurfaced during the project with the hope of making the street more pedestrian friendly.
Island Roads said vehicular access would be restricted while improvements take place but the firm hoped to minimise inconvenience by carrying out work overnight.
There will be another information session at the Memorial Hall on August 21.
