WITH nearly 1,000 vessels taking part in the Round the Island Race today (Saturday), it's an especially busy weekend and there's an absolute bumper pack of things on offer.
There are plenty of events peppered around the Island for you to enjoy before finding a perfect spot to park yourself and watch the the boats sail by.
Head back in time to Havenstreet Station in the 1940s all day today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday). There will be live swing music from the Three Belles, dancing, food and drink, plus vintage hairstyles and fashions.
The Ryde Arts Festival, now in its 15th year, is already in full swing. Part of the festival's packed schedule includes the Ryde Mardi Gras from 10am today (Saturday), with the parade at 3pm.
At the Ryde Esplanade station is an exhibition from artist Joanne Hummel Newell about the diverse patchwork of community. Joanne has two other pieces on display today today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) at the The Depozitory on Nelson Street open between 11am and 4pm.
Also part of the Arts Festival is a recital from harpist Mike Parker in the Methodist Church from 1pm.
Dash and Splash returns to Shanklin Pieread today (Saturday) at 11am. Join 300 other people in the 5km dash along the beach of Sandown Bay to Yaverland.
Following the success of last year's event, Ventnor Day is making a triumphant return. From 12pm until 7pm today (Saturday) there will be music, food, arts, and crafts, plus the Ventnor Green is a great spot to watch the Round the Island Race.
Strings Bar and Venue is playing host to '60s and retro evening Club Zoom tonight (Saturday) from 7.30pm featuring the London Meyers Dancers. The recently opened venue can be found on Bowling Green Lane, Newport.
Alternatively the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra will be performing at the Medina Theatre tonight (Saturday) from 7.15pm.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is Shipwreck Isle on Appley Beach, featuring live pirate music, cannon and firearms demonstrations, sword fights and much more.
Over in Arreton tomorrow (Sunday) is the Arreton Barns historical vehicle club and open day featuring over 200 classic cars.
