AN ISLE of Wight woman has survived an horrific acid attack in Alvor, Portugal. 
The corrosive liquid is reported to have "melted her clothes like wax" after hitting her in the arms, stomach and legs.
According to the Daily Mirror, the attack happened on Saturday, May 6 at around 10.20pm, and her ex-boyfriend is currently under investigation by Portuguese police. 
The victim is currently in a specialist burns unit at Sao Jose Hospital in Lisbon.
*The victim of the attack is believed to be Eleanor Chessell, 28, of Newport.& ;amp;nbsp;
She was working as a holiday rep for Thomson and First Choice at the time of the attack, which was said to have happened at the Alvor Baia Hotel.
A Thomson and First Choice spokesperson said: "Sadly we can confirm that one of our holiday reps has been involved in a serious incident in Portugal.
"Our resort team are fully supporting our colleague and are co-operating with the investigation currently taking place by the local police. 
"We would like to reassure our customers that this is an isolated incident and situations like this are extremely rare."
