COWES lifeboat rescued an injured yachtsman earlier today (Tuesday).
The lifeboat was launched at 12:40pm to the 66-year-old yachtsman, who was in pain from a back and neck injury.
The man was fitted with a neck brace and taken to Trinity Landing, Cowes, before being carried by stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
He was then transferred to St Mary's Hospital.
The man had been aboard the 30 foot Connie - on the Solent, near East Lepe Buoy - when he was struck by the main sheet attached to the boom.
