THE popular Caterpillar Music IW Group for babies and toddlers has two reasons to celebrate this month.

Not only has it opened a new class in Newport, which was fully booked within days, but its class co-ordinator, Maggie Carberry, has been nominated for the national award most outstanding activity leader for under-fives at the What’s On 4 Little Ones Awards 2011.

She said the group, which started in 2006, had gone from strength to strength, with new classes opening every year.

The pre-school classes, which run six days a week, provide vital learning skills through music and movement, puppets and instruments.

Maggie said: "The children thrive at our fun, interactive classes and it is so inspiring to watch them learn week on week.

"The feedback from parents, grandparents and carers is always positive — many of whom have attended a Caterpillar Music class since 2006 with their children and I am thrilled they have chosen to nominate me for this national award.

"With more than 3,000 nominations received, I was delighted to receive news I am now through to the voting stage and would like to thank everyone who nominated me for the recognition."
