A FIRM that aims to reduce the Island’s carbon footprint, has pledged to help businesses and householders cut their energy bills and to get grants to upgrade their heating and energy systems.

Actrite Ltd, based at East Yar Road, Sandown, specialises in tailoring domestic and commercial energy solutions for Island homes and businesses — from cavity-wall insulation and upgrading heating and hot water systems to installing solar panels.

The company, celebrating its first year in business, employs ten people. They are comprised of industry-accredited cavity wall and loft technicians and highly qualified gas, oil, electric and microgeneration engineers.

They aim to expand the firm by employing two more gas engineers and move to a larger premises in the new year.

The business was co-founded by Island-born Dave Preston and George Taylor.

Mr Taylor said: "We are keen to help the Island reduce its carbon footprint and help homes and businesses cut energy bills.

"There is so much funding available to upgrade heating and energy systems that most people would not hear about. We can take customers through the process of obtaining grants with little or no input from themselves.

"We spent our first seven months in business training up staff to a high standard and are now linked with major funding agencies for domestic and commercial energy solutions."

The company offers unsecured, interest-free business loans, with no arrangement fees. The scheme is designed so that energy savings will cover repayments.
