THE NEW £36 million Cowes High School has been delayed by up to a year.
Summer 2012 is the new worst-case scenario opening date of the new school after the IW Council was forced to go back to the drawing board by new procurement rules.
The council cabinet faced a choice of pressing ahead under the old rules and facing massive fines or damages claims or starting the new process where it secures two bidders who compete over price and specification.
The rules had changed following court rulings elsewhere.
A public meeting on the project is being held at Northwood House between 6pm and 8pm on Thursday.
