ISLE of Wight cricket fans have been able to cheer their local heroes on TV this past week, with four of the Island’s best exports featuring on Sky Sports.
Danny Briggs, playing for Sussex, David Griffiths, playing for Kent, Adam Hose, playing for Somerset, and Chris Russell, playing for Worcestershire, have all been in televised Royal London Cup games.
In the south group, Briggs was involved in Sussex Sharks’ five-run defeat at home to Essex on Monday night, while on Sunday, Hose and his Somerset team-mates won a thrilling one-run match against Glamorgan, with only three balls to spare.
Also on Sunday, Russell and his Worcestershire side were unable to overcome Derbyshire, losing by seven wickets in the north group, while Griffiths took two wickets as Kent defeated Surrey by one wicket in the south group.
Briggs, Hose and Russell all learned their skills at Ventnor, with Griffiths reaching the professional ranks from Shanklin.
