THE Knobs and Knockers charity ball is back.
The Indian Summer-themed ball will be held at Northwood House on Saturday, September 30, in aid of the Wessex Cancer Trust.
Entertainment will include Dr DJ, of Bestival fame, an auction, with items ranging from tea at IW Pearl and signed goalie gloves to champagne and a handmade wooden rocking zebra.
Organisers Mary Hodder, Julie King, Claire Rixon and Sandra Novak met as teachers at Cowes Primary School, and the group was originally formed to raise money for breast and testicular cancer charities.
However, in recent years, the team has raised more than £22,500 for a wide range of charities. Mary said: “My mum had breast cancer so it’s very personal. However, when she died it was from old age not cancer.
“When my father died I had a lot of support from the Wessex Cancer Trust — until then I wasn’t aware it offered therapy.
“It’s all about raising awareness because unless people know it’s there, they won’t make the most of it.
“It’s an absolute joy to see all the support.”
Tickets for the evening cost £45 and are available by calling 07935 673991 or e-mailing knobsandknockers@gmail.com
