POET, singer and songwriter, Danton, appeared at the Freshwater Coffee House as organisers of a West Wight event to raise funds for Island charities stepped up a gear.

A Day at the Bay during the first weekend in October offers 12 hours of live entertainment to raise money for local charities including Freshwater Independent Lifeboat, Mountbatten and the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust at Dimbola.

Freshwater Coffee House owner, Stefan Powell, said: "The autumn event offers residents and visitors a full day of live music from Island musicians. Lots of local charities all benefit from the fantastic effort that goes into an event like this. What could be better?"

The preview event at Freshwater Coffee House raised more than £50 for Wessex Cancer Trust.
