Life as a silver screen idol was not all glamour and excitement. Croydon actress Sue Appleby is one of six in the Snapdragon Theatre Company who use drama, song and dance to tell the real stories of legends like Judy Garland, Marlene Dietrich and Francis Farmer in Sirens: Behind the Screen.
The production gives horrific accounts of nervous breakdowns, a frontal lobotomy and years of overwork as well as heartwarming stories of how they triumphed in the end. You can see the show tonight, August 1, at the Warehouse Theatre, but then Snapdragon is off to the Edinburgh Fringe. Tonight's show starts at 8.30pm. Tickets are £5.
Call the Warehouse box office on 020 8680 4060.
