February 13, 2001 9:36: BROMLEY residents are being urged to get their swimming costumes on to help raise £2m for cancer charities.
West Wickham Pools, in Station Road, West Wickham, is one of 500 swimming pools across the UK taking part in this year's BT Swimathon.
With more than 40,000 people estimated to take part nationwide, the event is set to be the biggest swim marathon in Europe. The pool will be holding a session for local swimmers on Friday, March 13, where participants can choose to swim either 5,000m, 2,500m or 1,500m.
General manager Pam Hough said: "BT swimathon is a fantastic event and is something anyone of any age can take part in."
