Why the change of heart commissioner?

Friday, November 24, 2017 - 11:23

From Willoughby Matthews, youth and student officer, IslandLabour, Cowes:

I HAVE read that Flick Drummond has left the role of DeputyPolice and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire, having only been confirmed in therole 19 days earlier.

She was appointed by the new Conservative commissioner,Michael Lane, with no public advertisement of the role and therefore nocompetition, just months after the voters of Portsmouth South booted her out astheir MP.

This all comes months after Mr Lane’s own election, when hedecided to axe the role of assistant commissioner, presumably deeming it notnecessary, only to give virtually the same job to one of his Tory friends justa few weeks later.

Shouldn’t he make his mind up?

This just shows the whole programme is a waste of time andpublic money, especially at a time when our police services have been slashedto the bone by this heartless Tory government.
