CHURCHES in Orpington fed more than 1,000 people when they took to the town centre streets.
The event, called On The Move, involved 25 churches in running an all-day barbecue for three days in the Station Road car park, which fed 1,300 visitors, both churchgoers and shoppers.
A Songs-of-Praise-style Party in the Park, attended by more than 500 people, was held on Green Street Green at the end of the three-day barbecue.
Organiser Peter Honour said: "The aim of the event was to take the churches out of the pews and onto the streets. Everyone had a really good time."
A Book of Condolence, left open throughout the events, will be presented to the American Church in London.
