Job done for Newport but agony for Yachtsmen

NEWPORT got the job done at St George's Park today (Saturday) to progress in the FA Cup - but Cowes Sports's journey has ended.

Newport defeated Winterbourne Utd 5-2 in a game where things really came to life in the final half hour, the first half ending 1-1. Scott Jones put the Islanders ahead but it wasn't until the 66th minute that they regained the lead, Aiden Sainsbury blasting home a cracking free kick. After that, it was one-way traffic, with Freddie Knowles netting twice and Liam Triggs also scoring his first for the club.
Meanwhile at Westwood Park, Cowes were knocked out by an agonising 84th minute goal by Yate Town, the side which knocked them out of the competition at this stage last year.
In Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League, East Cowes Vics's woes continued with a 3-1 defeat at Team Solent.
