Welwyn Garden City 2

Potters Bar Town 2

Title-chasing Potters Bar Town snatched a precious point in the fourth minute of added time in Saturday's derby match.

A free-kick from Ryan Harris saw Gary Ferguson's header sail over keeper Craig Garnett and on to the bar; from the rebound, Scott Lacey saw his shot saved, but the ball was returned for substitute, ex-Welwyn striker Jason Valentine to tap in.

Town had been behind twice, Welwyn having taken the lead after only two minutes when a cross from the left was not cleared and Matt Turnbull scored.

Welwyn threatened to stretch the lead, before Potters Bar came more into the game. Fortunes fluctated and Lacey's shot was saved feet-first by Garnett.

With ten minutes left, Town finally equalised. From Darren Ferry's cross, the ball was cleared as far as Paul Kendall who laid it back for Harris to cross and Ferguson headed home.

In added time, Welwyn regained the lead with a penalty by John Templeton, following Mark Mezan's challenge on Neil Draper, who appeared to have lost the ball.

Then came Valentine's late rescue act to save the Scholars.

In midweek, a David Beckham-style wonder goal by Harris just before half-time gave the Scholars a 1-0 win over Royston Town.

From just inside his own half, Harris hit a shot that dipped and swerved in the wind before finding the back of the net.
