Am-am fun

Friday, June 6, 2014 - 11:18

GOLF
A MASSIVE field of 160 players took part in Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club’s annual Am-Am tournament.
Players from as far afield as Sherwood Forest travelled to the event, with seven teams from Bognor Regis also entering alongside representation from Shirland, Ilford, Southwick Park, Meon Valley, Waterlooville, Cowdray Park, Southampton, Ryde and Cowes.
After a wet start, conditions became windy in the afternoon to make life challenging for all, but the eventual winners were the first team out at 7.30am.
The team, from the home club — Gary Meszynski, Mo Ismail, Brian Dyer and Peter Brooke — battled with rain and wind to come in with a score of 104 points.
Second from the home club were David Ames, Robert Gray, Conor Richards and Oliver Burrow, while the best away team were Richard Longhurst, Andy Brown, Dominic Rainey and Richard Donaldson, from Bognor Regis.
