IW Ladies 7, Romsey II 0

LEAGUE leaders IW put on a classy display to maintain their unbeaten form.

Led by the returning Lynn Horwell, who caused all sorts of problems for Romsey, the IW opened the scoring after just ten minutes, Leeya Roovis sweeping home.

Georgia Whittle showed phenomenal individual skill dribbling through several opposition players into the Romsey D, and while her initial shot was stopped, Roovis was able to pounce on the rebound for her second.

By now, the IW were in lots of space, and piling on the pressure with multiple short corners. They got their third when Carolyn McClellan neatly deflected a Williams shot.

Romsey rallied after this, but were unable to capitalise and, regaining control, IW scored their fourth through a Jaimie Unsworth shot.

In the second half, IW were eager to build on their tally, Kate Ednay netting twice, and Roovis completing her hat-trick to wrap up the scoring.

Player of the match was Holly Newton.

IW: Martin, Mumford, Burdett, Unsworth, Gammage, Whittle, Newton, Horwell, Richardson, Roovis, McClellan, Ednay.
