Remember facts at the ballot box

LETTERS From John Morey, Ryde:

WITH the forthcoming council elections in mind, I would ask people to recall a few facts.

Although the economic cutbacks and reforms taking place are needed up to a point, the pace and intensity with which it is being done is cruel and needless, causing many social problems.

Over the past 200 years, almost every piece of decent, humane social legislation and political reform has been at the behest of either the Liberal or Labour parties, the Trade Union movement, plus of course charities, and benefactors with a social conscience.

Again, I would ask people to remember this when they go to the ballot box, to hopefully vote out the Tories, who, as always, look out for the interests of the wealthy, at the expense of everybody else.
