LETTERS From Julia Bridgeman, Yarmouth Ferry User Group, Yarmouth:

THERE was a moment of great excitement last week when I saw Wightlink’s full page advertisement — "A fixed fare all year round"; "take all your family at no extra cost"; "£38.40 return".

We’ve done it — I thought — a fairer fare for Island users!

And it is — so long as you can stump up £1,152 in the first instant and make 60 crossings in 12 months.

From Kevin Ralph, Niton:

Ransom price: HAS Wightlink lost the plot?

As a self-employed tradesman, Wightlink want £115 for a day return for a standard Transit van.

Red Funnel only want £48.

I suggest we all stick two fingers up at Wightlink and use Red Funnel. They cannot just hold us to ransom.

Vote with your feet!
