WORK on building the new Safeway superstore has started at a site behind Sidcup High Street and is already causing parking problems.
Grassington Road car park, and the road itself, is closed at the junction with Elm Road.
Traffic for Manor House and Holmbury Manor is being diverted via The Green and Church Road.
The car park in Back Road will stay open for the present time but will eventually close.
Short-stay parking spaces have been increased to compensate for the loss of the car park.
It is hoped the new store will open by the end of the year.
