MUSIC ISLAND rap and hip hop artist Jamie Marsh and singer-songwriter Cliff Dutton have made it on to an album hosted by Rita Ora.
The pair collaborated on the track, Complicated, on Coast 2 Coast Mixtape Vol. 222, alongside megastars Ora, Rihanna, Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa.
Coast 2 Coast Mixtapes are the most downloaded mixtapes in the world, released weekly by major artists and featuring top indie artists from around the world.
Cliff, a vocalist and DJ, returned to the Island after several years on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura, where he performed in clubs and bars.
He teamed up with Jamie, who produces original music from his home in Ryde, a year ago to collaborate on a number of new tracks.
Cliff, 36, said: "Someone suggested we submit one of our songs to the producers, with the potential of getting onto an album.
"There were thousands of songs sent in from around the world. A public vote took place and we ended up in fourth place.
"The producers only picked three songs from the top ten, including ours. We were rather happy when we had the news on e-mail."
As well as producing his own music, Jamie is working with producers in the US to rework other material.
Cliff describes their music as a cross between urban and commercial hip hop — it has been compared to Professor Green.
"For me, music is a passion rather than something I am trying to earn money from," he said.
The pair are set to release a new acoustic track, King of the Castle, soon.
