Gig for the Mechanix

Friday, November 23, 2012 - 10:13

MUSIC A CHARITY event to raise money for an Island band, which had its equipment stolen and then destroyed, is taking place tonight (Friday).
The Mechanix had finished playing a gig at The Blacksheep Bar, Ryde, when their van was hijacked, before being set alight with some of the band’s valuable equipment inside.
Lead singer Dave Weedall was inside the van when it was taken and suffered back injuries, which required hospital treatment, last month.
A gig to raise money to replace some of the equipment lost in the van fire, which included amplifiers, microphones and a drum kit worth around £4,000, will take place at Coburgs in Union Street, Ryde, tonight at 7pm.
Other acts performing are Ric Stanbridge, The Wild Oats, Lucid, Reg Against The Machine, The Maxwells, Red Rock and The Ohmz.
