IW bands offered gig chance

The Flycatchers performing at the Dairyman’s Daughter heat last year.

MUSIC ISLAND bands again have the chance to play for pay.

Four live music venues are offering local talent the chance to Get the Gig — winning a cash prize and regular performance slots at all four pubs throughout the year.

Solo artists and bands have been invited to take part in a series of heats throughout February and March at the Spyglass Inn, Ventnor, Steamer Inn, Shanklin, and Dairyman’s Daughter, Arreton.

Acts will be selected to perform at the final at the Bargeman’s Rest, Newport, on Thursday, March 21.

Get the Gig was created last year with IW Radio to support the family-run pubs’ commitment to Island music.

The first heat will take place at the Spyglass Inn, Ventnor Esplanade, on Thursday, February 21.

• More information is on the IW Radio website — www.iwradio.co.uk — where mp3s of track entries can be uploaded.
