MUSICNEWPORT Minster transformed into a venue boasting 16 musical acts including a salsa band, didgeridoo players, bagpipes and classical performers.
The event, organised by Newport resident Tina Byers, was designed both as a platform for local musicians and to raise more than £1,500 for the continuing renewal of the Minster Church of Sts Thomas.
It was launched by the 60-strong Medina Community Choir and those attending the evening were not only treated to a wide range of music but also a superb buffet put together by community group Pan Together and a raffle too.
The event was supported by Stage Gear, Newport Parish Council and UK Entertainment as well as IW photographers and volunteers from the renewal campaign fundraising committee.
Hosting the evening was Chris Browning, from IW Radio, who made his compering debut.
"I would like to thank all of the musicians who came forward to take part in this event. It has been great for both them and the minster," said Tina.
"It goes to show that the church is a great venue as well as an historic building. There is a tremendous amount of musical talent on the Island," she said.
Chairman of the Friends' of Newport Minster, Michael Kier, said: "We are very grateful to Tina for all her hard work in organising this event and to all the performers who donated their time in aid of the renewal campaign."
