MUSIC PRETTY Things fan Pete "The Hat" Darby is bringing the band — or at least most of it — back to Ryde.
The band, which features former Rolling Stones guitarist and Island resident Dick Taylor, plays the Wight Rock Bar on February 2.
A few years before, they played the nearby Ryde Theatre and have been at Bestival.
Pete first met the Pretty Things in 1964 at a memorable Cambridge Corn Exchange gig and they have musically collaborated since.
Musician Pete said: "I thought then they were a great band and I didn’t know at that time Dick Taylor was with The Stones."
After moving to the Island, he looked up Taylor and the two played together. Then, The Hillmans — Taylor’s band — performed at Pete’s Ryde Folk and Blues Club last March, at the Wight Rock Bar.
"Dick asked if I would put on The Pretty Things as an unplugged, or semi-unplugged trio — and how could I refuse?
"So Dick, Phil May and Frank Holland will be coming on February 2 — when tickets are limited to just 100," said Pete.
The support band are the local rockabilly trio Tea ’n’ Biscuit Boys.
