TROUBLED Salisbury School in Edmonton has a new temporary headteacher following the shock resignation of John Shipley.
Deputy head Jane Allen is to step up to acting headteacher with immediate effect until September.
Mr Shipley quit after ten years when it was announced that the school was to be put on special measures after inspectors heavily criticised its standards.
Ms Allen will be supported by Peter Hudson, headteacher at Southgate School, who is taking up an advisory role.
In September, Mr Hudson will retire from Southgate School to take up the post of acting headteacher at Salisbury until a permanent appointment is made.
Liz Graham, Enfield Council's director of education services, said: 'Thanks to the help of the governors and staff of both Salisbury and Southgate, we have been able to make these arrangements swiftly and respond to the needs of the school.
'I am delighted that Mr Hudson, an outstanding head and former head of Salisbury until 1985, has agreed to support the school.
'Parents can be assured that the school is in good hands.'
