ARMED police arrested three people this morning (Monday) after raiding an address in Freshwater.

It is not known what offence, or offences, they were arrested on suspicion of committing.

A spokesman for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police said: "We can confirm armed officers went to an address in Heathfield Road this morning. Two men and one woman were arrested as part of a police operation. They are being questioned in police custody.

"The address at Heathfield Road is being searched for possible evidence.

"Due to other ongoing enquiries in this operation, Hampshire Constabulary is not in a position to confirm more details at this time.

"There is no information to suggest a wider risk to the community."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Newport CID, at Newport Police Station, by phoning 101 and quoting Operation Part. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
